    Frequently Asked Questions

    Site

  1. What is the purpose of this site?
To provide a mechanism for people to make and fill requests for amateur photographs.
  2. What are the "two sides" of this site?
The purpose of this site is two-fold. People make requests and people fill requests. Subscribers are expected to do both. When you are making requests, we refer to you as a "requester". When you are filling requests, we refer to you as a "provider".

    Making Requests

  3. How do I make a request?
To make requests, you must first log in. Before you can log in, you have to Subscribe. Once you are subscribed and logged in, click on the Request Forums link under the "Make Requests" header. Choose a forum that best describes the photo you want to request. Click on the Forum name and then click on Post.
  4. How many requests can I make?
You are not limited in the number of requests you can make. However, there is a point system that requlates how many of your requests show up in request searches. To make sure providers can see all of your requests in search results, be a provider too.
  5. Are there limits on the kinds of requests I can make?
Yes! See our Usage Boundaries for these limitations. Basically, we do not allow pornographic requests, requests that ask providers to break the law, or requests that pose a danger or unreasonable risk to providers.

    Filling Requests

  6. How do I fill a request?
You find a request and then go out and take the picture. Then, you return here, find the request you were filling, and upload a thumbnail image. The requester will look over submitted thumbnails and seleted the images that meet their needs. If your is selected, you will be allowed to upload the full image.
  7. What is a "thumbnail?"
A thumbnail is an image file that is greatly reduced in size. This saves space and bandwidth on our system and allows requesters to easily see several submissions at once.
  8. How do I make a thumbnail?
You will need software that allows you to shrink the size of an image. This kind of software often comes packaged with your digital camera. It also allows you to otherwise manipulate the image, like removing "red eye".
  9. Am I expected to make an image look better than the one I took?
No. Just upload the photo as is and let the requester deal with things like sharpness, softness, red eye, etc. If you think it will give your photo an edge in being accepted, then feel free to do these things yourself.
  10. Making a thumbnail is an extra hassle. Can't I just upload the whole image?
We are able to allow you to upload an image whole and we will convert it to a thumbnail, but we deduct one point from your total points. You can save points by creating the thumbnail yourself.
  11. What kind of equipment should I use?
You will be uploading files from your camera or computer. If you do not have a digital camera, you can take pictures with your regular camera, scan them on a scanner, and upload the file to the site. We accept most image formats.
  12. What kind of pictures will I be asked to take?
We prohibit pornographic requests, requests that ask providers to break the law, or requests that pose a danger or unreasonable risk to providers. Do not fill any such requests! ReciproPix.com is not responsible for any injuries or legal sacntions related to your filling of requests. Please report all requests that violate our usage boundaries via the bulletin board system.

    Point System

  13. What are the points for?
To help people to participate in both sides of this site: making requests and fillings requests.
  14. How do I earn points?
We start you off with 3 points when you first subscriber. After that, you earn 1/2 point for every thumbnail you upload to the site. You earn 1 point for every request that you fill that is accepted by the original requester.A
  15. What do I get for points?
The number of points you have determines how many of your requests are seen by other users. For example, if you have 3 points, only 3 of your requests will show up in any search. You can make as many requests as you want, but unless you also go out and earn points, not many of your requests will be seen.
  16. Can I lose points?
You usually won't lose points, although some of your points could disappear into disallowed requests. We do not allow pornographic photo requests nor any requests that encourage people to break the law. If you have made such a request, the request will be deleted, but it will still count against your point pool. For example, if you have 3 points and 3 requests pending, but you make a request for something that is disallowed, that new request will be deleted, but searches will now only show 2 of your requests. The other point is attached to the deleted request. We reserve the right to audit all requests and request fills and to adjust any subscriber's points based on what we find.
  17. I want to request photos, but I don't have a lot of time for going out and filling requests. How can I get more than the 3 starting points?
    You can purchase points.
